Dining out can be an enjoyable experience, but for individuals with dietary restrictions or food allergies, it often becomes a stressful and time-consuming task. EverybodyEats is designed to solve this problem by helping users quickly filter through restaurants and menu options that cater to their dietary needs. By eliminating the uncertainty of ingredient transparency, EverybodyEats ensures that dining out is a joyful experience rather than a frustrating one.

Information Architecture

Through 12 user interviews, we discovered that people with dietary restrictions face three major challenges when eating out:

  1. Limited Menu Options – Many individuals are left with only one or two choices, often the blandest meals available.

  2. Lack of Ingredient Transparency – Menus frequently provide vague descriptions, making it difficult for customers to assess whether a dish aligns with their dietary needs.

  3. Inconsistent Server Knowledge – While servers try to assist, they may not always have a full understanding of dietary restrictions, leading to uncertainty and potential risks.

These challenges make dining out a stressful experience and limit accessibility to enjoyable meals.

Call to Action

EverybodyEats is a digital platform that simplifies the restaurant selection process for individuals with dietary

restrictions. Users can:

  • Filter Restaurants by dietary needs (e.g., gluten-free, nut-free, vegan, keto, etc.).

  • View Detailed Menu Information, including ingredients and potential cross-contamination risks.

  • Save Time by eliminating the need to research menus or call ahead to inquire about food options.

After gathering insights from the 12 interviews, we found strong demand for a service that could provide clear, reliable, and accessible information about restaurant offerings. Key findings include:

  • 83% of interviewees reported feeling frustrated by the lack of clear menu descriptions.

  • 75% expressed that they often had to settle for an unsatisfying meal due to a lack of options.

  • 91% indicated that they would use a service that could simplify the restaurant search process for them.
