Dining out can be enjoyable, but for individuals with dietary restrictions or food allergies, it often becomes stressful and time-consuming.

EverybodyEats addresses this challenge by helping users quickly identify restaurants and menu options that meet their dietary needs. By removing uncertainty around ingredient transparency, EverybodyEats turns dining out into a confident and enjoyable experience.

Through 12 user interviews, we identified several recurring challenges faced by people with dietary restrictions when dining out.

Limited Menu Options
Participants often reported having only one or two viable choices on a menu, which were frequently the least appealing or most basic options.

Lack of Ingredient Transparency
Menus commonly relied on vague or incomplete descriptions, making it difficult for users to determine whether a dish met their dietary needs.

Information Architecture

EverybodyEats uses a customizable profile to filter restaurants in the area based on a user’s dietary needs. Once restaurants are filtered, selecting a restaurant shows which menu items are available, with ingredients listed for transparency as an extra precaution.

EverybodyEats also allows users to add friends or create additional profiles to view menu options across multiple restrictions. Favorites can be saved for quick access. Restaurant listings include distance, ratings, and direct links to reservation platforms, and for users dining at home, the app indicates which restaurants are available through Uber Eats.
